Reading the Good Book

A great read

Thursday, June 05, 2008

As I sit at work I read a friends post. It's a survey, the type that used to be sent through chain emails and now clutter my.space bulletins. The question that has my mind turning, which tends to turn too much sometimes, is this, "Do you like your life right now?". This person's response was yes and they are content. Now who this person is has no relevance. I have an issue with that statement. I find all too often that people are just content with that way things are. They don't like change or are afraid of it. Change happens all the time and things will continue to change. I am not content. I seek change. I see the way things are and then I see the way they should be. I want something new and exciting in my life, to make new friends, to live, to learn, to love, to grow, to move, to do things I've never done before, to show people a loving and caring God. That the world is not a deep and dark place. Nobody is alone and nobody has to settle for less than what they want. Live your life to the fullest. Seek out your dreams! Why be content when there is so much left undone and so much left unsaid. We are only here for a short while, might as well make the best of it.

Wow! It been a long time since I have posted anything on here. I just realized that my last post was pretty negative. I can't even think of the incident that provoked such a post. Oh well I seem to be over it now.

It is Sunday and I'm up at work and again I have yet to be productive with any of my studies. Which is one reason I don't like working on the weekends. But that has not always been the case. I used to think it would be good to work on the weekends and force myself to study and its a good idea because we are not real busy and its a pretty quit environment. Well I am going to focus and try to be productive for the last hour that I am here. Of course I will need to get some food before that.

Why is it that women that are in a customer service orientated business, such as a waitress or bartender, are nicer to you than others? Is it because it is there job? They just want money from you or the extra tip? Am I to come to the conclusion that all women are only nice to you because they want something. Why is it so hard to find someone that isn't motived by their own greed? To be honest I don't mind being single. It would just be nice to have an honest conversation with someone once in a while without alternative motives. Oh and please don't tell me your idea of great music is modern Rap or Pop which is more degrading to our society than anything else. Someone still has to have an appreciation for the classics or even jazz music which was created in America. I have just had enough of it and I don't want to deal with idiots. But I do have faith and believe that not ever one is stupid and that there are some intelligent people out there.

I can't Drive 55!!!

I hate when people for whatever reason do not go the speed limit. It happens constantly. It doesn't really bother me so much if you are turning in a block or two, that's understandable but when you are just cruising along at 10 or more under the posted limit because you on you cell phone that really angers me. If you cannot hold a conversation and safely drive, pull off to the side of the road until you are done talking or better yet do not drive at all. You are the ones that cause accidents and drive up rates of insurance. That is all I have for now.

Well New Years was pretty good. With my friends words on illegal things she has done I figure I would share this. We bought over $200 worth of fireworks for $50. It was illegal to sell, buy, or transport fireworks in the county because the commissioner decided to declare a state of emergency and shut down all the fire works stands and stop them from being shot off in the county. My friend's neighbor happened to know someone that owned a stand and had some fireworks at his house, so we stopped by and bought some, in the county that we were not suppose to buy them in, and then drove through the county to get back to my friends place outside the county to set them off legally. Good news is that we did not catch anything on fire that we did not mean to and we did not get caught.

As for going to Cotton Bowl,
it was fun to go the game except for the last play and we will not talk anymore about that.

What Christmas is all about.

Charlie Brown: (shouting in desperation) Isn't there anyone out there who can tell me what Christmas is all about?
Linus Van Pelt: Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you. Lights, please. (A spotlight shines on Linus.) "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not, for behold, I bring unto you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you this day is born in the City of Bethlehem, a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; you shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel, a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, 'Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men'". That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie brown.
